Q) Tell me how you discovered Reggie Box?
A) Actually we were approached by Reggie's wife, who read about
backstage Auctions in a Cleveland newspaper around the time we
where hosting the David Spero/ Alice Cooper Restaurant auction.
Q) Lets just jump into it... a signed guitar by Beck and SRV?
How did if feel to hold that puppy?
A) Unreal.......and Magical at the same time. It's such a great
guitar and the signatures (let's not forget that it is also
signed by Jeff Beck) are about as elegant and stately as they
come. I mean, it's something that's been handled by two of the
all-time greatest guitar legends. It wouldn't surprise me if
there's actually some riffs coming out of that case at night,
when our studio is dark and quiet.
Q) What is the value of such a guitar?
A) The opening bid price starts at $7.500 but the value is
higher than that. We just hope that it will go to an appreciate
collector because a piece like this is not going to come back to
the open market anytime soon.
Q) Tell me about some of the other top pieces up for bid?
A) There's a great Dylan signed 7-inch single cover, a Doors
platinum record award that is signed by Robby Krieger, a very
rare album cover slick from the Kinks, unseen Beatles 1966
concert photos, an impressive Mellencamp collection....the list
goes on and on.
Q) What about the guy who had fifty bucks to spend. Can he
join in the fun? What can he expect to get?
A) We love the guy with 50 bucks and this is a great auction for
people who collect in that range. One of the great thing about
this auction is that it has lots starting at just about every
price level and no one should feel excluded from this
memorabilia fest. We've got great posters, handbill, vinyl & CD
lot, shirts, photos etc. all in that 50 dollar price range. And
no matter what your vice is (classic rock, hard-rock, pop,
British Invasion), we've got it all!
Q) Should record collectors be checking in?
A) Absolutely. In addition to very cool - and collectible -
Beatles, Elvis, Kinks, Mellencamp etc. vinyl, there are several
lots with exceptionally rare Radio Broadcast Only vinyl
collections. There are 2 in particular that come to mind; the 81
different Scott Muni "Ticket To Ride" records and the 37
Westwood One "Off The Record" albums. The Scott Muni records are
unique for that it contains 81 different weekly Beatles tribute
shows, many with special performances, guests and recordings.
These shows were among the finest in the mid 1980s and they have
never been released publicly. Any Beatles collector will go nuts
with this collection. The Westwood One "Off The Record" vinyl
lot is another great set to have. These one-hour specials
contain great interviews, special guests and so on and feature
bands such as Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, REO Speedwagon, Journey,
Kansas, Rainbow, The Outlaws, Toto, Jethro Tull, Rush, Fleetwood
Mac, J. Geils Band, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Frank Marino,
Judas Priest, Triumph, Def Leppard, Styx and The Tubes. A true
dream for collectors of classic rock! And, all albums are in
pristine condition!
Q) What is coming up next?
A) We're working at what arguably could be one of the largest
vinyl auctions ever. We have 2 consigners - both radio jocks
from the 1960s/ 1970s with incredible careers - who have
incredible collections. One jock (Norm N. Nite) is a true legend
and he provides a dazzling array of collectibles, from vinyl to
interview reels, music videos, signed memorabilia, photos and so
forth. The other jock (Todd T. Taylor) dropped off about 5.000
records and 10.000 7-inch singles. His collection is nothing
short of museum worthy for that it contains mostly rare
promotional releases and impossible to find titles. It'll be a
thrill to host that one!
Q) How does one sign up for BSA?
A) Simply go to
www.backstageauctions.com
and follow the sign-up sign. In only a few minutes of your time
you're set and good to go!
Q) When can people begin bidding?
A) The bidding for the Reggie Box auction starts this coming
Sunday at 2 PM East Coast Time and will run for a week. The
bidding will end on Sunday, April 13.
Q) Best of luck on this one! Let me know how it goes.
A) We'll do and as always, thanks so much for letting us share
this news with your readers. Classic Rock Revisited is the most
informative and best site on the net. You guys ROCK!!!!
