Eric Clapton's first
Crossroads DVD
has sold over eight times platinum and raised a huge amount of
cash for his Crossroads rehab center. In 2007, Slowhand moved
the festival to Chicago and duplicated the magic of the first
show. This is an amazing DVD that features many legends of rock
and blues as well as some artists who should be household names
but are not (yet).
The two-disc collection
features Clapton, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck, John Mayer,
Robert Cray, Robbie Robertson, Johnny Winter, Derek Trucks and
more. The entire show is a musical feast of guitar heroes
gathered together for a good cause.
Johnny Winter plays an
amazing "Highway 61" and appears to be in better health than he
has been in years. Master Bluesman BB King steals the show as
he quietly commands the respect of every musician in the house,
including Clapton.
Bill Murray acts as the
emcee and even duets with Clapton on the Van Morrison classic
"Gloria." Doyle Bramhall II, Sonny Landreth, Susan Tedeschi and
Robert Randolf all put in jaw dropping performances while the
Masters, BB King, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Willie
Nelson, Robert Cray, John McLaughlin, Derek Trucks, Jimmy
Vaughan and Steve Winwood take the whole thing to a legendary
status.
This is one of the best
collections of an All Star Gig ever recorded and is essential
viewing for any fan of the guitar.
