Gary Hoey - American Made
Surfdog Records
www.garyhoey.com

Rating: B

Gary Hoey may be the most underrated guitar player in America.  Since 1993 Hoey has been releasing guitar oriented albums yet he has failed to hit the big time.  With
American Made, Hoey incorporates his classic playing with modern day guitar sounds, the result is one fine slab of throbbing hard rock.  The highlight of the album is a remake of the Red Rider hit "Lunatic Fringe."  If that band had balls then they would have made the song sound like this the first time.  Hoey rocks the mutha up!  On top of making the entire song rock hard, he lays over a killer solo that shows off his guitar tenacity.

Hoey strays from his instrumental past and adds vocals to several songs but fear not, there are plenty of slashing solos that he is best known for.

While this album may not bring him the limelight he deserves, it matters not to Hoey as he has his fans and he adds to them with every release he puts out and every concert he plays.  If you have not done so before then do check out Gary now.  If you live and breath guitar rock then Hoey could become your new best friend.
