Jon Anderson – Live from La La Land
Opio Me
www.jonanderson.com

Rating: B+

Yes vocalist Jon Anderson has recorded a solo gig featuring only his voice and his playing acoustic guitar or piano. The two-disc set is an up close and personal evening with one of the most amazing talents to come out of the prog rock movement. The twenty songs are a mix of Anderson favorites and Yes classics. The songs that work best in this stripped down format are "Wondrous Stories," "And You and I," "Your Move" and "Long Distance Runaround." Anderson also does creative interpretations of "Owner of a Lonely Heart" and "Yours is No Disgrace."

The album is obviously very mellow but is most welcome as a companion to wake up with on a Sunday morning or to enjoy with a late night candle lit dinner. Anderson’s emotions come across throughout the performance and one can tell he is enjoying baring it all on stage during his one man show.
