Neal Smith - Sexual Savior
Kachina Records

www.nealsmith.com
Rating: B

Neal Smith is the original drummer for the Alice Cooper group and the drummer for the supergroup Bouchard, Dunaway & Smith. Smith has just released a solo album that can only be described as loud, aggressive, eerie and brutal. Sexual Savior shows the drummer has not lost any of the early AC Group formula and has indeed taken it to another level.

At times this puppy is almost disturbing. "Leave Me Alone" opens the disc with power chords, distortion, screaming vocals and paranoia. The music on the whole thing is in-yer-face and aggressive. One can truly see the Alice Cooper Group influence in the tracks "Monster in the Attic," "Naked and Raw" and "Thrill Thrill Thrill Shoot to Kill."

The only drawback to the album is the overwhelming feeling of freakiness that attacks the listener through the first listen to the album – hell, I take it back.... that’s actually one of the coolest things about the album.

Neal is not going through the motions as one can’t fake the energy coming out of the speakers. This is a Must Own for any fans of the original Alice Cooper Group. It gives hope that there is enough of the original magic still alive to see a reunion!
