Sean Costello - We Can Get Together

Rating: B
Sean Costello is only
twenty-eight years old yet he has the soul of Blues Master.
Costello
continues to fly under
the general public’s radar as he chooses to stay a
traditional bluesman instead of trying to cash in on being
another young guy who can play the blues. Unlike performers
like Johnny Lang, Costello is the real deal, not just
someone who naturally plays in a certain style and exploits
it. His latest CD is another testament to his blues roots.
The best of the bunch
are "Hard Luck Woman," "Anytime You Want" and "Feel Like I
Ain’t Got a Home." That said, there are no losers on the
disc as the entire album feels like an album – just
like the good old days. From the opening notes of "Anytime
You Want" to the sweetness of "Little Birds" – a song taught
to Costello by the legendary Levon Helms, who learned it
from his parents – this album is a winner. While it lacks a
standout track or guaranteed hit, it makes up for it in it’s
cohesiveness and overall groove. We can Get Together
is the next step in the musical legacy of still up and
coming songwriter and guitar player. Finally, Costello is
starting to be noticed. Check this one for blues bliss and
check his website out for touring dates.
