Broken Teeth – Electric
Textone Records
http://www.brokenteeth.com/

Rating:  A

Kick ass, three chord, no frills rock ‘n roll has always been vocalist Jason McMaster’s specialty. The former Dangerous Toys front man has been prowling the stages, delivering his trademark banshee wail and sly tongue in cheek tales of degradation longer than many of today’s pubescent rockers have been on the planet. Broken Teeth which has actually been raising hell everywhere for almost ten years now, continues to refine their potent attack by sharpening their fangs and turning up the intensity level a notch on their latest release Electric. The premise here was to re-record six tracks, giving the twin tandem of guitarists Jared Tuten and Dave Beeson a chance to breathe some new life into older chestnuts from the bands back catalogue. With the remaining six songs, they managed to lay down studio versions of well established, but previously unavailable live favorites. The newer versions of “Devil Money” and “Hangin’ By The Skin”, already up tempo songs in their original state, now burn with an even more frantic sense of urgency. McMaster is once again in fine form, delivering the goods like only he can. His crotch level lyrics on such potent sleazers “Bonfire”, “She’s Gonna Blow” and “Stick It In” should be regarded as a long lost art form. Like their name implies these Texas tornadoes take no shit and Electric confirms it more than ever. If you’re new to the Teeth then Electric is a perfect place to start. This one is a definite horns up!
