Kansas – Two for the Show (30th Anniversary Expanded Edition)
Legacy
www.kansasband.com

Rating: A

Okay, maybe I am not the one who should be writing this review as I wrote the liner notes to the new 30th Anniversary Expanded Edition of TFTS and I am a self-professed Kansas fanatic. That said I have to tell you that this album is fricking amazing. Not the most professional review you have ever read so far? You’re right. I am tempted to gush about how damn talented Kansas are and how this album shows that they are one of the most unique and talented rock bands to come out of the 70's but I am not going to do that. Instead I am going to just report the facts.

The facts are that someone at Sony found the original tapes in the vault and pulled them out and listened to them. Not only were the deemed awesome and worthy of a re-release and remastering, they also discovered many tracks not originally included on the original two album release. The first disc contains all of the hits that were on the original release including, of course, "Dust in the Wind," "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Point of Know Return." Hell, just the original album re-released would have made for a great review. However, the real magic here is the unreleased second CD recorded at the same time as disc one but left on the shelf.  On this disk Kansas fans get live versions of the classic songs "Child of Innocence," "Hopelessly Human," "Belexes," "Cheyenne Anthem," "Lonely Street," "Miracles Out of Nowhere," "Spider," "Closet Chronicles," "Down the Road" and "Sparks of the Tempest."

See, I told you this album is a must-own. It is Kansas at the height of the popularity touring the country in support of the album Point of Know Return. What could be better? Maybe a new Kansas album? Yeah, that would be better. But until that happens this will more than suffice. The bottom line here is that this is an important release that chronicles Kansas first five albums and includes tons of unreleased music to get the fan base excited. So, quit reading this review right now and buy the album. In fact, and I can ‘t believe I am going to suggest this – leave Classic Rock Revisited and go to Amazon.com and order this album. Do it now... what are you waiting for... go on.
