Classic Rock Revisited writer Ryan
Sparks interviewed ex- Judas Priest vocalist,
and founding member, Al Atkins to discuss his new book Dawn Of The
Metal Gods, co-written with author Neil Daniels.
Al speaks candidly about the formative years of Judas
Priest
as they struggled to secure a record deal and break out
of their industrial
town of Birmingham England in the early 70’s. The book not only
gives the reader plenty of unique insight into the
genesis of one
of the world’s greatest metal bands, it also speaks
volumes
about the man’s sheer determination to stick with his
music career,
through thick and thin. While it’s safe to say that he’s
had his fair share of
ups and downs over the past forty years, he’s in a good
place these days
with the release of the book and a re-issue of his last solo album
Demon Deceiver. He is also preparing material for
a debut full length
CD with his fantastic new band called Holy Rage.
