Jethro Tull -- Live at Madison Square Garden 1978
Capitol
www.jethrotull.com

Rating: B

Back in October of 1978, Jethro Tull became the first band to be broadcast live from America to England.  It was during the group's amazing Heavy Horses Tour and the segment of the concert to be beamed through space to British Tull nuts was only part of the actual Madison Square Garden concert. In fact, the band even had a fake beginning when the cameras came on.

This DVD/CD release features the full concert audio on both (though the CD does not feature all of the in-between song banter from Ian Anderson.)  The DVD, however, also includes the video footage shown that night.  The DVD video songs are "Thick As A Brick," "No Lullaby," "Songs From the Wood," "Quatrain," "Aqualung" and "Locomotive Breath."  The CD and DVD audio
includes "Heavy Horses," "One Brown Mouse," "Sweet Dream," "Too Old to Rock 'N' Roll," "My God/Cross-Eyed Mary."

The only 'too bad' thingy going on here is that it would have been awesome if they had filmed the entire concert.  That said, the live CD features a great show while the DVD video portion shows Ian Anderson dressed as a mongrel and hopping around on one foot a lot.

Tull fans will rejoice at being able to own this one after all these years.
