Blackheart – Invisible
Angel Air
http://www.angelair.co.uk/

Rating:  B

Album number two Invisible, from British indie folk rock duo Blackheart is another superbly crafted offering that finds Rick Pilkington and Chrissy Mostyn picking up where their successful debut Indigo left off.

The duo’s sound is largely centered on Mostyn’s gorgeous, soaring vocals which are absolutely magnificent on the lush ballads “Thank God You Found Me”, “Flyaway”, “Goodbye Everything”, and the stirring title track. I have to admit that while I’m not one who is generally a fan, or someone who pays too much attention to music of the soft rock variety, the well thought out arrangements and splendid melodies on Invisible had me hooked right from the beginning. So regardless of whether you’re a hard rocker, a jazz head or a folkie, there’s no denying both the talent and dedication of  Pilkington and Mostyn, and it’s hard to ignore the fact that they possess a definite knack for crafting songs with memorable and uplifting melodies.

If the lighter sounds of folk, pop rock are up your alley then you should definitely check out what Blackheart are doing on Invisible.
