Halloween II Soundtrack
Hip-O Music
www.halloween2-movie.com

Rating: C

Rob Zombie’s soundtrack to Halloween II is a mixed bag of classic rock songs, remakes, new tunes and tons of in-between song spoken word clips.  The clips confuse things in this day of shuffling songs.  They get out of order unless playing the CD from start to finish.

The movie is hopefully better than the soundtrack. The highlights of disc are the classic tunes, ala Foghat’s “I Just Want To Make Love To You,” The Moody Blues “Nights in White Satin” and the MC5’s rocking “Kick Out the Jams.”  Zombie’s band, called Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures, is typical hillbilly rock.  The songs seem rehashed and boring.

The best song on the disc is the haunting and creepy remake of the Nazareth classic “Love Hurts” by Nan Vernon.  She brings new layers to the song and while the guitar solo is missed, her tone and the double meaning of this being included in a horror movie can ‘t be dismissed.  Hats of to Zombie for finding a great song and the perfect artist for this movie.

This is far from a ‘must own’ but Zombie fans will buy it, dissect it and discuss it endlessly online, so for them it will provide hours of entertainment.
