Rating: A

The world lost iconic rock and blues guitarist Alvin Lee on March 6th of 2013.  With Ten Years After, and in his successful solo career, Lee served as a true ambassador to the music he was passionate about, influencing and inspiring countless guitarists around the world along the way.  Now, his fans can pay respect to him in the most fitting way he could ever want, by purchasing his last live performance.

The show was recorded on May 28, 2012 in Holland.  Lee was having a great night during that performance.  He was known for his live prowess, but, as every musician knows, some nights are better than others and some nights are simply great.  This was a great one.  The 14 songs recorded that night represent Alvin Lee the artist and we, as fans, are grateful and fortunate to be able to relive his music from his last performance.

Lee’s widow, Evi, stated in a press release, “Possibly my favorite memory of Alvin in recent years: to see him walking offstage in Raalte with his red Gibson slung to the side and a big grin on his face. Not usually one to be easily satisfied with his live performances, he was exhilarated and proud of having given the crowd his best on that evening. He would have been very happy with this unadulterated authentic release of the show.”

This is a must-own for fans of Alvin’s.  May he Rock in Peace!
