The Answer – New Horizon

Rating: B

The Answer is one of the best retro rock bands out there and with each album they come closer to breaking into the big time.  The industry certainly believes in them, as the cover art for their new album New Horizon was designed by the late Storm Thorgerson and the album was mixed by the legendary Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Metallica.)

The title track opens things with a bang, while the next track, “Spectacular” is a pure rock and roll, crank it up to 11, track.  The entire album keeps rocking and should keep the band on the road ripping it out and turning people on and reminding them that real rock and roll is alive and well.

Are they the answer to what’s wrong with music?  Do they hold the key to turning the industry on its ear and reminding them that the music is more important than the business?  Well, probably not.

The Answer is good, but not great.  They are important, but not necessary.  Despite New Horizon being another solid album, there does not seem to be a fever for The Answer, internationally.

Are they a damn good band?  Hell, yeah.  Do they deserve WAY more than they have received on this side of the pond?  Hell, yeah.  Should you buy this album?  Of course you should.

They may not have all the answers, but they have figured out that real rock and roll, that is original and loud, can still be relevant and done up right, despite the barren rock and roll landscape that currently exists.
