Rating: A+

Geez….how hard is it to review a box set of four classic Deep Purple albums?  In truth, it’s as easy as it sounds, and this one sounds damn good from beginning to end.

Yep, Audio Fidelity has once again struck Gold, this time releasing a four-CD, 24-Karat Solid Gold set of the four classic Mark II line of ‘70s era Deep Purple in one, limited edition and individually numbered box set.

In case you’ve forgotten, the Mark II Lineup of Deep Purple is made up of vocalist Ian Gillan, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, bassist Roger Glover, drummer Ian Paice and keyboardist Jon Lord.

In Rock, Fireball, Machine Head and Who Do You Think We Are, are the Mark II lineup 1970’s releases included in this box and each one sounds killer as all of the discs have been remastered with loving care.

In Rock was as important as the first two Black Sabbath albums in terms of the creation of the genre Heavy Metal while Fireball proved DP were not messing around, pushing the limits of imagination, and loudness, to dizzying heights.  Machine Head is quite honestly one of the best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal albums of all time and Who Do We Think We Are contains the classic “Woman From Tokyo.”   Just view the track list of the albums below and get ready to rock!

While there are no bonus tracks or extras of any kind, the set is housed in a cool looking embossed container and also features a limited edition number, with the total made being only 5000.

This is a MUST OWN for Deep Purple fans!

Spend some of the Christmas money you got and give yourself a truly wonderful looking, and sounding, gift this holiday season.
