The Dead Daisies – Live & Louder
Spitfire Music/SPV

Rating: B

Release Date: May 19, 2017

The Dead Daisies are the 2012 brainchild of Jon Stevens and David Lowy. David wanted the best so he got the best!  Just look at the all-star lineup for this amazing band.  Joining guitarist Lowy are rock icons Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner) on drums, John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream) on vocals, Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio) on guitars and Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake) on bass.  Not too damn shabby!  Just imagine what this band must look and sound like live?  Oh… wait… you don’t have to imagine it thanks to Spitfire Music/SPV.  You can own it thanks to the release of The Dead Daisies latest release Live & Louder!

Last year the band could be seen and heard opening for Kiss across the USA in support of their third album Let’s Make Some Noise.  The band ended their USA tour with a sold out headlining set at the infamous Whisky A Go-Go in Los Angeles.  They didn’t take much time off, however.  They band  headed off to Japan, Korea, and the UK.  The international response to their live shows was over the top.  The band went down well at the Loud Park Festival and sold out venues across Europe as well.  Being astute businessmen and industry veterans it was a no-brainer to video and record this band as they were performing as a well-oiled machine.

When playing live, the band is a true rock ‘n’ roll machine.  Doug Aldrich may be the most genuine lead guitarist on the planet right now.  Whether he is pumping out original tunes like “Song And A Prayer” or “Make Some Noise” or ripping a killer solo on a remade classic like “Fortunate Son” by CCR or “Join Together” by the Who, one can’t help but sit up, crank it up and pay attention.  Holding the rhythm section down are drummer extraordinaire Brian Tichy and bass maestro Marco Mendoza.  These guys create a wall of energy that wakes the dead!  Throw in some tasty licks by Lowry and the voice of John Corabi and you have a good old fashioned high energy rock concert that harkens back to the good old days!  The bands albums are good, but live, The Dead Daisies become larger than life!  The album was mixed by Anthony Focx (Aerosmith, Bad Company, Metallica, Santana) at Focxhole Studios and mastered by Howie Weinberg.

Lead singer John Corabi adds: “We’re extremely excited and proud of our new album ‘LIVE & LOUDER’!!! A lot of the fans have been writing to us and saying how much they LOVED our records but were even more blown away by the band live. So this documents our last U.K./European tour, and also shows the world how truly loud and supportive The Dead Daisies fans are. Thank you and Turn It Up!”

Fans can purchase a CD or they can go big and snap up many different, exciting formats.  There is a beautiful vinyl release as well as a limited-edition box set.  The box set includes some nice goodies including an exclusive 7” vinyl single recorded at The Zoo at Planet Rock Radio’s highly coveted London fan-only gig in November 2016.

If you’ve been a fan of The Dead Daisies then this live album will thrill you and make you realize this version of the band is the best yet!  If you’re just discovering this band with this lineup you will wonder how you missed them in the first place.  Either way, this sucker proves this band is best served up live and louder than ever before.

If you love hard rock then you will dig The Dead Daisies!
