In 1994, Peter Gabriel was on top of the world, enjoying massive pop success. Now, released on Blu Ray, is his classic Secret World Tour from 1994. The concert features many of the classic hits including “Sledgehammer,” “Solsbury Hill,” “Come Talk to Me,” “Steam” and “In Your Eyes.” Included on the Blu Ray is a great version of “Red Rain” as well.
The show is thick on props and Gabriel mixing artistic showman with amazing vocals. The concert, filmed over two nights in Italy, showcases a great time in the musician’s life. He had grown up since the prog classics he sang in Genesis and had matured as a songwriter and a frontman, relying as much on emotion and attitude as on props and costumes.
Gabriel remains a master of his craft today, yet this concert documents a time when he was on top of world, both commercially and artistically.
