Motorhead – The World is Ours Vol. 2: Anyplace Crazy as Anyplace Else

Rating: B+

Motorhead are the world’s loudest, wildest and craziest rock band to ever grace the stage. They really can’t play all that great and no one is quite sure how in the hell Lemmy ever decided that he could sing. Their songs are raw and soaked with distortion. Yet, for some reason, it works. It is like throwing all of the leftovers from the ‘fridge into a pot and heating it up on the stove and having the odd concoction turn out delicious. It isn’t supposed to be that way, but it is. That’s Motorhead.

While the band may have beaten all of the odds when it comes to their massive worldwide popularity, the bottom line is that millions of people love them. Their songs, while not masterpieces have a certain flair and familiarity that makes rockers, metal heads and even punks relate to them and, after repeated listens at ultra loud volumes, fall in love with them.

As good as the studio versions are, however, Motorhead, to truly be properly experienced, must be seen and heard live in concert. Lemmy and Company are a force to be reckoned with that never give less than 100% during show time.

On October 22nd, UDR Music will release a new CD/DVD/Blu-Ray titled The World is Ours Vol 2: Anyplace Crazy as Anyplace Else that showcases just how damn aggressive this band is during their live performance. The CD/DVD has already hit #1 in Germany.

The release is a follow up to The World is Ours Vol 1, Everywhere Further Than Everyplace Else. This time, the main part of the release comes from Motorhead’s spirited performance at the 2011 Wacken festival in Germany. Also included are parts of their headline appearances from the Sonisphere and Rio shows.

What is not to love about songs with titles like “Ace of Spades,” “Iron Fist,” “Rock Out,” “I Know How to Die,” “In the Name of Tragedy,” “Killed by Death” and “Overkill.” The band rock it out performing songs from all eras of their career, the crowd rocks out with them and delights in every fist pounding and head banging note.

Few bands rank with Motorhead when it comes to pure testosterone fueled hard rock. Lemmy may claim the band’s music is just rock and roll but the truth is Motorhead is much more than that. It is rock and roll with a twist of Lemmy, that twist consisting of sweat, blood, piss, vinegar and jizz.

The release will come as a digipak with a DVD and the two CDS, a double-disc only, a double-vinyl gatefold sleeve, a blu-ray and a box set featuring 2 CDS, a DVD, a Blu-ray and special booklet.
